The current flooding has threatened the livelihood of the Lao people across the country, heavily damaged their properties and crops. This flood is one of the worst floods ever occurred in Laos. For the long run, this would entail a long term socio-economic impacts. In order to prevent flooding and mitigate its impact, the Government of Laos has undertaken various effectively and timely preventive measures, including human and financial resource mobilizations. Now the level of the Mekong River is subsiding, however, the impact of the flooding remains great and other provinces across the country are still under a threat of inundation. Therefore, the Embassy would like to make an appeal to the multi-ethnics of Laotian-Americans and Laotian-Canadians for immediate cooperation in flood mitigation and emergency relives to the Lao people who are the victims of the flood. Your humanitarian relives could be made in CHECK or MONEY ORDER sending to the Embassy of Laos in Washington, DC then the Embassy would collect and send them to the estimated destination. The Embassy highly appreciates the cooperation and strongly believes that your humanitarian relives and assistance will actively contribute to the restoration of the living of the victims of the flood. |
